There is a lot of hype surrounding "The Atrocity Exhibition... Exhibit A." Honestly, I don't see what is so special about it. There are too many modern influences. I hear riffs that sound like they could be used for Lamb of God. Which is obviously a bad thing. There are even a few JUMPDAFUCKUP riffs. Rob Dukes' vocals are annoying. At times, he sounds like a "hardcore" vocalist trying to replicate Steve Souza but fails in the end. On this album, he tries some clean vocals too but they are nothing to cream your pants about. However, there are some redeeming qualities. Some riffs actually sound like thrash metal and they can get pretty technical at times. Some of the leads are fucking amazing. It's too bad I can't say the same for the whole album.
To sum it all up "The Atrocity Exhibition... Exhibit A" is a bland album with metalcore/groove metal tendencies. Exodus are planning to release a sequel to this album in 2008. Maybe, it will be an improvement over this album but I doubt it. I haven't been impressed by Exodus' new material anyway. If you want thrash, listen to "Bonded by Blood" instead.
